Developmental Needs Meeting Strategy

I have been trained in the Developmental Needs Meeting Strategy (DNMS) more than 20 years ago. I had immediately come to recognize its benefit after my first weekend training experience. It proved to be life changing for me. I had been seeking to address a troubling issue of mine for more than 30 years, when in the span of 30 minutes it was resolved! I noticed its benefits the very next day. It has clearly served to change my life for the better. Clients of mine who have benefitted from EMDR and Havening, are singularly more grateful for my introducing them to the DNMS.

The Developmental Needs Meeting Strategy (DNMS) was born from the compassionate and visionary mind of therapist Shirley Jean Schmidt. It offers a beacon of hope for individuals who have experienced attachment disorders. With its profound ability to rewrite negative self-beliefs and address deep-seated wounds, DNMS opens the door to healing and transformation.

Shirley Jean Schmidt, a therapist driven by empathy and determination, embarked on a quest to provide effective support for individuals struggling with attachment-related challenges. Drawing upon her vast knowledge and understanding of human needs, she set out to create a therapeutic method that would address the core developmental needs of those who had experienced early relational trauma.

The foundations of DNMS were built upon a fusion of various therapeutic modalities and theories. Inspired by Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapy, Ego State Therapy, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), and Attachment Theory, Schmidt crafted a unique and powerful approach to healing attachment wounds.

Within the realm of DNMS, individuals are invited into a safe therapeutic space where they can explore their internal landscapes and uncover the hidden parts of themselves that have been affected by attachment trauma. Through a gentle process of deepening, they gradually connect with the unmet needs and experiences that have shaped their lives.

Central to the healing journey of DNMS is the recognition and addressing of the unmet developmental needs that lie at the heart of attachment disorders. The therapeutic process guides individuals to nurture and reintegrate those neglected or wounded aspects of self. In this transformative space, attachment wounds are gently tended to, offering a profound opportunity for healing and growth.

DNMS goes beyond healing attachment wounds; it also confronts the negative self-beliefs that often arise as a consequence of attachment trauma. With targeted interventions and protocols, individuals are empowered to challenge and reframe these deeply ingrained beliefs. The compassionate therapist becomes a guide, helping individuals rewrite their inner narratives, transforming self-doubt into self-compassion and negative self-perception into self-worth.

The journey through DNMS is one of liberation and transformation. As unmet needs are integrated and attachment wounds heal, individuals experience newfound freedom and resilience. They step into a world where relationships can be approached with greater confidence and trust, where the past no longer defines their future. DNMS empowers individuals to embrace their inherent worthiness and reclaim their authentic selves.

The ripple effects of DNMS extend far beyond the therapeutic space. As therapists around the world embrace this transformative modality, it becomes a beacon of hope for individuals who have experienced attachment disorder issues. DNMS offers them a path to healing, self-discovery, and the forging of healthy, secure connections. It is a testament to the power of compassion, understanding, and therapeutic innovation.

Within the tapestry of DNMS, stories of healing and transformation are woven. Individuals find solace, empowerment, and the opportunity to rewrite their narratives with strength and resilience. DNMS stands as a testament to the human spirit’s capacity for growth and change.

As the journey through DNMS continues, therapists and individuals alike embrace its transformative potential. This modality, born from the depths of empathy and insight, serves as a guide to healing attachment wounds and rewriting negative self-beliefs. With each step, individuals discover the power to reclaim their lives, find inner peace, and forge authentic connections.

And so, the narrative of the Developmental Needs Meeting Strategy unfolds—a narrative of hope, healing, and the triumph of the human spirit. Within the realm of DNMS, individuals discover their own stories of resilience and transformation, forever changed by the power of compassion and the journey towards healing.
